Chen Xingtong beat Honoka Hashimoto 4–2 in the China Smash women's singles quarterfinals on October 9, 2026, Japanese outlet TV Tokyo reported. The win took Chen into the semifinals. She had lost both previous meetings with Hashimoto.[1]

In comments reported by TV Tokyo, Chen said she had prepared several new approaches after those two defeats. She said she understood Hashimoto's spin better after the opening two games, allowing her to attack more accurately.[1]

Chen lost the opening two games 5–11 and 8–11 before taking the next two 11–2 and 12–10. She then won the fifth and sixth games 11–3 and 11–6 to complete the comeback with four straight wins.[1][2]
