Shin Yubin and Jang Woojin will miss the Asian Championships because of fatigue following a busy tournament schedule, South Korean outlet The Pingpong reports. Both have competed in successive events, including the Asian Games, WTT Champions and China Smash. Yonhap also names Lim Jong-hoon among South Korea’s absentees.[2]
The South Korean squad departed from Incheon International Airport on October 16 for Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where the championships take place from October 19 to 25 at Tashkent Olympic Town.[1]
The men’s squad comprises Park Gyu-hyeon, Lim Yu-no, Kim Min-hyeok, Kang Dong-su and Park Gang-hyeon. Lee Eun-hye, Park Ga-hyeon, Lee Da-eun, Lee Si-on and Yu Si-u make up the women’s squad, according to The Pingpong.[1]
The championships’ individual events also serve as qualifiers for the 2027 World Championships. However, the places secured belong to each country rather than to the players who earn them. The Pingpong reports that the South Korean association plans to hold separate selection trials to decide who fills its places at next year’s World Championships.[1]
