Borgar Haug, ranked 213th in the world, beat Truls Möregårdh 4–2 in the European Championships singles round of 16 in Ljubljana on Friday. Haug won the sixth game 11–7 to close out the match.[1][2]

Haug had already eliminated 11th seed Marcos Freitas in the previous round. He next faces Anton Källberg in the quarterfinals.[1]

Möregårdh angrily protested after the umpire ruled his serve illegal. Swedish outlet Expressen Sport quoted Möregårdh as saying afterwards that he would not have won anyway and that Haug was the better player that day.[2]
